Hectrix has newly released the external mifare reader, which connects to the ACTAtek serially via RS-232 or RS-485. The significance of the external reader is to reduce installation costs and overhead. The external reader has no software built-in to it and relies on the ACTAtek for all its operations. All it does is read cards and records out punches from any location. It can be used as a attendance tracker, or to secure premises within the office where you don't need a high end ACTAtek unit.

The ACTAtek is now equipped with a built-in CMOS camera that takes snapshots of personnel authenticated or rejected by the system. This snapshot can then be retrieved from the web interface of the device, which is a means to browse through the information within the system.

With the ACTA-BIZ-CC model, which only has PIN + built-in CMOS camera as its authentication and security tools, you can track attendance as well as keep premises secure with the snapshot of each authenticated punch stored in its log.
