Ever since its lanuch in 1999, SmartCards Expo has spearheaded the Smart Card Revolution in Inida. It has played a significant role in creating awaress about the smart card technology and its applications in the country.
Thanks to the pioneering role of SmartCards Expo, Smartcards are proliferating into newer application areas in India, which include ID and Access Control, Driving Licence and Vehicle Registration, retail, loyalty, Banking and finance, close user group applications, Healthcare, Transit and fare collection, toll collections and many others.
Recently, the Government of India has announced the use of smart cards for citizens ID in the country.
Currently, smart card base in India is estimated at about 70 million. This is projected to cross 400 million numbers in next few years. Obviously, the Indian smart card market has great business potentials.
